Here Are Some Glorious Photos of Beyoncé in Ivy Park Merch - Vulture Posted: 17 Jan 2020 10:06 AM PST An entrepreneur. Photo: Kevin Mazur/Getty Images for Shawn Carter Foundation Well, if you haven't received your giant orange Ivy Park clothing rack, then it's safe to assume you're not getting one. Beyoncé's reinvented Ivy Park collection had its prelaunch today, after months of waiting for the brand to bounce back. In November of 2018, Beyoncé bought Ivy Park out from its co-owner, Philip Green. She announced plans to switch to collaborating with Adidas back in April. And now the fateful day is among us. Ivy Park officially launches on January 18, but lucky fans could've scored some of the new items through a prelaunch sale on Friday. And by lucky we mean very lucky, like a child of destiny lucky. Fans tweeted that as soon as the launch was supposed to begin, they were no longer able to access the Ivy Park section of the Adidas app. Others said that they never received a notification for when the launch began. Perhaps fans will have an easier time getting their hands on Ivy Park when it officially launches on Saturday. In the meantime, those of us who didn't receive Beyoncé's over the top PR packages can gaze upon Beyoncé's glory in these new photos of the athletic wear. It's no trunk full of shoes, but it's still a gift. |
Journalists apologize for mocking Beyoncé's daughter Blue Ivy - Today.com Posted: 04 Jan 2020 12:00 AM PST Two reporters apologized this week for rude comments they made on Twitter about the appearance of Beyoncé and Jay-Z's 7-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy Carter. It all started on Wednesday when rapper Megan Thee Stallion posted two fun, black-and-white photo booth shots of herself, Beyoncé and Blue Ivy ringing in the new year. That's when Vanity Fair film critic K. Austin Collins chimed in, "I have a feeling the jay z face genes are about to really hit Blue Ivy and I feel so sorry for her." Violet Lucca, a web editor for Harper's, replied to Collins' tweet, "They haven't already?" "Or she'll just get plastic surgery at 16 a la Kylie Jenner and we'll all have to pretend that she always looked that way…I can't allow myself to feel too sorry for the incredibly rich!" Lucca added. Trending stories, celebrity news and all the best of TODAY. Both journalists were immediately blasted for commenting on the 7-year-old's appearance. "Why would an adult come out of their face and say anything negative about anyone's child? Unbelievable is anything off limits? You never say anything negative about anyone's child period!" said one Twitter response. "Look at her she's beautiful and just hanging with mommy and Megan." "This is a beautiful girl!" someone else replied. Lucca and Collins apologized and have since deleted their offending tweets. However, since nothing ever truly goes away on the internet, screenshots of their remarks continued to circulate on Twitter. "I'm sorry about the Blue Ivy tweet — bad joke, and black girls in particular deserve better," Collins tweeted Wednesday. When told by one user he should never have published the tweet, Collins responded: "you're right. Poor form on my end. Thanks all for calling it out." Lucca apologized in tweets on Wednesday and Thursday. "Sorry I was cleaning my apartment while this blew up...children of famous ought to be off limits, but time and again they haven't been. So I said something petty and have been called ugly, old, and a racist," she wrote in a tweet Wednesday night. "We've been moved to the evil category and there's no way for us to get out of it," Lucca wrote. "I'm sure there will be plenty of people responding to this saying I'm playing the victim by pointing this out." She added that she was "truly sorry to anyone who was reminded of past hurt" because of her comments. "I truly believe Blue Ivy will go to the grave without knowing who I am, which is neither here nor there, but on the off chance she sees it—I'm sorry, young lady. You're gonna go far no matter what," Lucca tweeted. While Blue Ivy was unfortunately dragged into headlines this week due to the mockery, next week is shaping up to be a fabulous one for Beyoncé's first born. She'll be celebrating her eighth birthday on January 7! Happy birthday, Blue! |
Beyonce and Jay-Z’s Daughter Blue Ivy Looks Grown Up in 8th Birthday Instagram - Us Weekly Posted: 07 Jan 2020 12:00 AM PST Blue Ivy is growing up fast! The eldest daughter of Beyoncé and Jay-Z turned 8 on Tuesday, January 7, but looks even older in a celebratory Instagram post that Bey's dad, Mathew Knowles, posted on the special day. In the photo, Blue wears an orange blouse and a cherry-patterned skirt, toting a palm-printed knapsack on her back. "Happy Birthday to my beautiful and oldest granddaughter Blue Ivy," Mathew, 67, wrote. "Love, Papa G." Fans of Beyoncé, 38, and Jay, 50, got another glimpse of Blue last week in photos Megan Thee Stallion posted on New Year's Day. In one of the candids, Blue showed a gap-toothed grin having presumably lost some baby teeth. Blue also starred in her famous mom's July 2019 music video for "Spirit," the Golden Globe-nominated song Beyoncé cowrote for the 2019 remake of The Lion King. A source previously gave Us Weekly insight into Bey and Jay's family life, which also includes their 2-year-old twins, son Sir and daughter Rumi. "Jay-Z and Beyoncé have nannies for the kids, and their assistants help out too, but they mostly try and bring the kids everywhere," the source said in June 2019. "Blue always travels with Beyoncé and comes with her when she's working. The twins are getting older and Beyoncé has been taking them out a little more too. … They're a very tight-knit family and like to do everything together." Tina Knowles Lawson, Beyoncé's mother and Mathew's ex-wife, also told Us about the tots during a February 2019 interview. "The girl is really just going to rule the world, and the boy is kind of laid back and chills like the dad," the 66-year-old said of Sir and Rumi. "[Blue is] the Queen B. The second Queen B." Richard Lawson, Tina's husband, raved to Us about the kids in November 2019. "They're all very creative, amazingly creative," said the actor, 72. "Watching [Beyoncé and Jay-Z] with their children is really a beautiful thing because you see the amount of love that goes into these kids and you see the way it comes back." |
Beyoncé Does Athleisure on Her Own Terms With Ivy Park's Re-Launch - The Daily Beast Posted: 16 Jan 2020 03:58 PM PST You only get to launch a clothing line once. Unless you're Beyoncé, in which case you can reinvent your brand as many times as you want, to glorious effect. Beyoncé announced the latest iteration of Ivy Park this week, via a spree of glossy advertisements featuring herself and some well-placed friends. The superstar's second go-around of her athleisure line, which first dropped to much fanfare in 2016, was announced last April. Now, with the help of Adidas, her adoring Bey Hive, and Reese Witherspoon (stay with me here), the multi-hyphenate has released the first glimpse of what her clothing will look like. The past life of Ivy Park, which was created with Topshop, may not have been entirely Beyoncé, but its renaissance absolutely is. To recap: Ivy Park debuted four years ago, named in part for Beyoncé's first child, Blue Ivy. Her assortment of logo-fied, mostly-mesh bodysuits, leggings, and tops have been copied to death in the years since, but the line was lauded at the time for injecting life into the athleisure category, which began as and still is to some extent a clothing genre designed for rich white women. After Topshop boss Sir Philip Green, who helped Beyoncé dream up the line, was exposed as a serial sexual harasser in a bevy of exposés, the star bought back her own company. The hugely symbolic move made Beyoncé the first black woman to own an athleisure line. So now she is back, designing on her own terms, for a collection out January 18. This means, as images posted to Bey's Instagram account show, outfits that capture not just an audience's attention, but imagination, too. Sure, leotards that show butt cleavage can be sexy, but a maroon number with an orange stripe becomes its own type of armor, a militaristic style reminiscent of the black leotard and harness Beyoncé wore for her groundbreaking Super Bowl cameo. These pieces subvert the cliché of athleisure, which the mere mortals among us take to mean simply leggings we wear to grocery shop. Spare Beyoncé that standard Instagram model uniform—instead, she's selling a neon orange ruched jumpsuit, which comes (naturally) with a matching billowing cape, just waiting at attention for a wind fan. The clothing may not be practical, especially on a treadmill—indeed, the only activity appropriate to partake in while wearing a long, pleated windbreaker dress is running around the English countryside à la Kate Bush in the "Wuthering Heights" music video. But the pieces encapsulate the true reason celebrities start their own clothing line (well, other than to make boatloads of money). These outfits give buyers a sliver of connection to Beyoncé, a way to be one step closer to the pop idol. It's an opportunity delicious even to Reese Witherspoon, who gamely unboxed her Ivy Park swag on Instagram. (Witherspoon and Beyoncé reportedly struck up a friendship at the Golden Globes, when the actress asked Bey for a glass of champagne.) Witherspoon goofily danced in leggings and a sweatshirt, and somewhat resembled a Ghostbuster in a striped jumpsuit. But the message is clear: anyone can be Beyoncé—that means you too. |
