Bed Head Girls Just Want It Lipstick in Luxury + In the Red Update

Note: This is a discontinued product - I bought it in TK Maxx (that's gonna be a trend in upcoming posts).I was very surprised that this lip product was not tampered with - if you've ever browsed a TK Maxx cosmetic section you'll know why ... Yes I did open the packaging myself - it took a bit of time but, after seeing the bullet free of finger prints or lipstick marks I decided to just buy it and hope for the best. To my amazement when I opened the bullet I saw a perfect and non-interfered with lipstick that didn't smell and looked like the perfect shade of red *dances*.

Colour: Luxury is a blue based red. I'd say pretty much any skin tone can/could wear it well. The lipstick is pretty pigmented but it can be built up to be more full strength.

Formula: Very rich in texture - similar to how Becca lipsticks (the discontinued ones) feel. My guess is that its down to castor oil being one of the main ingredients (a thick heavy oil) - this means the lipstick feels quite moisturising and is soft on the lips.

Packaging: A unique shaped silver bullet which has a unusual peak in it. The bullet is very shiny and reflective plus its sturdy and light weight - I think its pretty cool.

What does Bed Head Say?
'What makes our lipstick different? Its a perfect balance between major moisture and pigment packed colour 'think of it as Yoga for your lips' ... Bed Head Luxury Lipsticks came in 18 different colours that were named after different qualities which in turn I guess would bestow different qualities on the wearer - names included : beauty, faith, hope, loyalty, humour, gossip, truth, luxury, honesty, fun, love, power, passion, serenity, romance, peace, happiness and trust. I think it was a pretty cool idea especially since I do like names for products rather than for instance a shade called no.234 etc. Anyway, this concept is similar to Sparitual Nail polishes however, some of the names like umm gossip would be a bit undesirable to wear - who wants to promote that feature in their life ... anyway. This is what was said about Luxury

Luxury: Something that is expensive or hard to obtain (like me), that promotes comfort, pleasure or enjoyment (yes, yes!) but is not absolutely essential (say what!).

Jokes aside - I think that's a good description of luxury and makeup in general - its not essential ... here is Luxury on me lips ...

I haven't worn it out yet but I'm not scared to its just that I've been reaching for vibrant purples lately but I think I'll wear this tomorrow to test it out ... It has a jelly-ish consistency, it has no shimmer but its does have a lovely  glisten to it  *Edit* Wore it out today 20/03/2015 very long lasting vibrant colour I only reapplied once after eating and it didn't fade away patchy ... and still can be seen after a full day (over 9hrs) plus I forget my lip balm (very rare for me) and though my lips did feel a bit dry (they've been spoilt with lip balms) the lipstick was moisturising enough for me to get through the day - so its still a winner :)
Overall: I'm impressed.

*In the Red Update*

As of now March 2015 I no longer fear red lippie. I have actually more alarming shades in my collection like green (yes green), milky purples and black etc. I have always been into odd shades as my first ever lipstick was green - well a magic green lipstick that changed pink once on lips (not that I actually used it because of my makeup fear) ... Anyway

I have enjoyed doing in the red posts but, I've realised that I have so much more lippie posts to offer than just red *snores*. I mean if you looked at my posts you'd think all I had were reds in my collection which is not true. Sure, I have a lotta-lotta reds but, I have other shades too and doing in the red posts has kind of limited me in a way and made me feel like I had to opt to wear a red on a makeup day and do a full post on it (oh the work involved!), over lets say a purple because then I could post about it. Plus I found myself buying more reds over actually using the ones I had bought, swatched and reviewed - and that doesn't make sense does it?? Ya get me.

With all that said don't worry I will still be posting about red lipsticks/stains etc. I'm just being more free to experiment with my lipstick + posts and I'm really going to try and use and record most if not all of my collection (goals?). I have a post coming up about THE PURGE which is going to be on various things like makeup, minimalism and sorting my life out. So, till then.

What's your take on Red Lipstick?
Are you scared of it?
Have you found your perfect shade of Red?
Does your skin tone limit the shades of lipstick you can and do wear?
When did you get over the makeup fear and started wearing whatever colours you liked?
Do you have any makeup fears (i.e. won't wear this or that)?

Your comments are always welcomed and appreciated! :)
Thanks for sticking with me
Much love as always
xXx
